Getting Over Sickness

Today I am sharing an interesting realization about how amazing our human bodies work. Firstly, I need to let you know that when I was a child, I was deaf until the age of two because of severe ear infections. My parents did not know as much about nutrition as we do now, so they continued to give me my favorite drink, milk, in the attempt to help me feel better during tough and painful times. Today I know that dairy is the worst thing to give a child with ear infections because it causes mucus in the sinuses and inner ear. Dairy can make the problem much worse, but not everyone knows this.

Well, I have learned tons about nutrition throughout my life and I have learned even more about energy and how the human body works, though I do not consider myself an expert, yet.

I was out riding my bike last week, one of my favorite ways to relax and get some exercise, when I spontaneously noticed something important about our human bodies. I was peaceful, calm and enjoying the immensely beautiful fall in the mountains when I noticed tension in my muscles. Checking in with my body, I noticed for the first time that I was holding my tongue tightly to the left. Naturally, I relaxed it right away and felt a wave of release flow through my jaw, my neck, my head and my ears. The wave even went down my back and into my legs. Wow! I had no idea that I had developed the pattern of holding my tongue to one side. Instantly I knew that it was a main cause of my chronic tension and neck pain. When I get stressed or overwhelmed, I tighten my tongue. With this realization, a deep knowing rose up from my cells that the pattern of holding my tongue tightly to the left came from my birth. I suddenly remembered the tube that is used to clean out a newborn's nose and throat forcing its way painfully into my mouth. For a newborn, there is no defense against this kind of intrusion, therefor the baby is forced to endure the pain of a doctor or nurse's picking and prodding. Our culture tells us this is necessary, but a healthy baby needs its mother right away, not a "safety" inspection. So the tube caused pain in my mouth which caused my nervous system to respond by tightening my tongue, which became a chronic pattern for the rest of my life. Oddly enough, as soon as I began meditating and focusing on relaxing my tongue more often, within 24 hours I got very sick. My ears and nose plugged up to the point of barely being able to breath.

Luckily I have enough experience in this to know that what happened is that the "cold" surfaced because it has been laying dormant in my cells since I was a kid. I was given so many drugs as a child that the illness never got processed out of my body, it just got suppressed. This is one problem with drugs, it suppresses the illness, it does not "heal" the illness. The body is what heals the illness. Today, I am not taking any drugs for my cold and congestion because I want it to run its course and detox all the way out. It has been a struggle staying sick, but I have been drinking lots of water, taking salt baths, taking herbs and vitamins and mentally giving my body permission to "let go".

I have also been having spontaneous body memories of my ear infections and the pain it caused. I have been craving milk. Of course, I have not had any dairy because, like I said, I am allowing the illness room to move all the way out and I don't want to stuff myself up with more mucus.

I have wondered if the tube was one thing that caused my ear infections in the first place. It makes me wonder about what else might have happened when I was born that could have caused more problems than it helped.

In short, every thought, word and deed in our lives generates consequences. These consequences are not meant to be labeled as good or bad, right or wrong. They just are what they are. As we evolve as a human species, I hope we begin to discover more and more about healthy births, healthy "healing" habits (lets cut down on the drug consumption), nutrition and living with awareness. I would love to hear what you have to say. Feel free to respond or leave a comment. Remember, I am not a professional doctor or nurse. Everything written here comes from my perceptions about life.

Resistance, Humor and Trust

There is no reason to resist. We have many excuses as to why we resist Spirit, yet none of them matter in the end. We either allow and flow or we fight against. I saw a funny saying on a gift card the other day that read, "Only dead fish go with the flow." I laughed out loud in the store. I love the humor of Spirit. We don't need to take everything so seriously. Human beings are remarkable funny creatures. We struggle, we fight, we resist, we complain and where does this get us? Stuck. Life is going on all around us. It is the Great River flowing whether we agree to it or not. We tend to get stuck in our minds and "think" we have control over every minute of our lives, yet this is an illusion. We "create" our lives, not control it. What parent out there gets to have 100% control over his or her kids? Sure, people attempt to control their kids, but the kids don't like it and in the end, the kids disconnect and go to where they are loved. I think we resist the flow of life because deep down we are still not sure if there is LOVE out there or if this all is some big cosmic joke being played on us. Are we just an E.T. experiment and running around Earth like lab rats?

What I see is that it all comes down to trust. When we know, without a doubt, that we are somehow loved and protected, never punished or condemned, then we can open up and spread our wings. Then we can CREATE. And then we can laugh. Despite what popular religions teach, God is not judging us. He/She is not watching every move we make and determining what move is good and what move is bad. God is simply "being". God is hanging out! God is waiting to hear from us and see what we are manifesting. God is listening. God is experiencing what we each are experiencing.

Now I sound like I'm preaching. Sorry. But I see the fear in people every day. People are not sure if love is real. They are not sure if it is okay to laugh and enjoy life. I see the insecurities deep inside their bodies. I see the constant questions in people's minds. And all I want to say is, "Yes, it's okay to create, it's okay to dream, it's okay to laugh and it's okay to be you. That is all God ever wanted...is you to be you."

Message From Quan Yin

Last night I was talking with Quan Yin about love. I was expressing my frustration about feeling like I don’t have an impact on this world and that no matter how much love I feel, it doesn’t seem to make much of a difference for people.
Quan Yin’s soft energy entered my mind and body powerfully. I saw pink in my head and heard her say, “There is a difference between feeling love and experiencing love as a force in your life. Love is a force, an impact; a force to be reckoned with. Love is a “thing” and a power that transforms anything, like doubt and fear. Are you ready to know love as a force to be reckoned with?”
I said Yes.
“Okay,” She responded. Then I felt a stirring in my heart. Not the energy center or my heart chakra, but my physical heart. I felt it stirring and changing. In my mind’s eye, I could see the cells in my heart joining together, unifying, it was physical matter joining together. I understood then that Love is not a concept, it is a physical happening, an event that takes on mass. Love is the very action of transformation itself on all levels.
I don’t know what is going to happen, but the message from Quan Yin was clear as a bell. I thought you’d like to hear about it. If you feel inspired, and you feel ready to know Love as a force to be reckoned with, let Quan Yin know (or any Goddess energy). You may not get an immediate response, but your prayers will be put into motion.
Please let me know what happens for you.

Freedom!

Freedom! We hear it everywhere. We all want it. We say we want other people to have it. We go to war for it, supposedly. Advertisements and governments promise it. But what is it, really?

Responsibility! A lot of people have it. Not everyone wants it. Some people are terrified of it. We don’t want to give it away because some of us associate it with control. Advertisements and governments are afraid to use the word. So what is it, really?

It’s kind of funny if you ask me.

The great illusion. People make millions on this illusion. Freedom is good, responsibility is bad. Freedom makes us sexy; responsibility is the homely housewife in silent misery diligently raising 5 kids.
Men, buy this new car and the women will want you. Women, use this shaver and the other women will be jealous of your suddenly fit, tan and sexy legs. Either way, give away your money and you can have whatever you want!

Freedom is romantic, wild and attractive; responsibility is too much work!
Lets try a real ad: Freedom, It’s a state of being. Responsibility, it’s how you get what you truly want. Freedom comes from within. Responsibility is the access point. No one else can give this to you and no one can fully take it away.
Freedom and responsibility go hand in hand.

Freedom is living from spirit. Responsibility is standing strong, being empowered and not taking any crap from your own ego. We are all eternal beings. We cannot be hurt and we cannot be damaged. Even though our ego tells us we can. Ego is the great, dramatic actor!

Note to self: Stacey, get a spiritual backbone! Stop catering to your emotional upset! Stop being hurt. Stop being sad and depressed and feeling powerless and incapable! Be free from your own emotional turmoil, it’s bogging you down and making you feel stupid. Stop giving in to your self defeat! Stop pretending like you can be damaged.

We are eternal beings.
We are loving beings.
We are creative beings.
We are free, but first we must remember it.
Be free from drama. Be free from upset. Get over it!
Be free from yourself.

God Asked Us To Participate

Have you ever seen those old black and white photos of the Native Americans? The ones in which the native people have depth in their eyes and an almost mystical wisdom in their sun-drenched faces? In case you have never seen photos like this, Google photographer Edward S. Curtis. There are other photographers who have captured the majesty of the world’s native cultures, but Curtis is a good place to start.
I often wonder why these old photos show such power in the faces of the native peoples and I rarely see this kind of power in people today. Where has that soul gone? Have we lost it in MacDonalds? Have we killed too many buffalo? Make-up can’t create that kind of authenticity. Well, I have strived to discover this depth within myself, and I feel that I have found a gold mine as far as opportunities to rekindle this power within. Sure, I have a long way to go and I do not call myself an expert, but I have learned. I have realized that my hard work and otherworldly experiences have contributed the truth to my words. I am worth listening to. I do know of which I speak and when I don’t know the answer, I have no problem saying so. I will not hide my intentions and I show my respect for you by presenting clear, unmistakable honesty. I don’t ever want someone to have to strain and “guess” at my meaning underneath garbled language.
I have come across so many people who want the depth and the wisdom present in the ancient faces of the beautiful native people, yet I rarely find someone who is willing to do what it takes to get it. How did we get so lazy? Many today seem to want the quick fix answers and the instant gratification. “Show me what I need to know so that I can teach it to others and look good in their eyes!” Or, “Just tell me what I need to know so I can write a book about it and make millions.” But, what we see and admire in those ancient faces is a life time commitment to God (Great Spirit), to courage, to a thriving community and to respecting all of life. We see substance. There is thousands generations of knowledge and wisdom passed down about true medicine, power, birth, integrity and harmony with nature. And it’s being forgotten!
The Native people lived their spirituality. They didn’t just set is aside for when it’s convenient. They knew, without a doubt, the power of their soul because they were willing to go the distance. They listened to God instead of talking too much. They pushed their bodies out of fat and laziness and learned what the body is truly capable of. And, most importantly, they didn’t learn this from reading books, they got it from living life! What are the priorities in your life? Does your soul make the decisions? Are you living your purpose and your vision? If the answer is No, then why not? Or do you follow the voice in your head that claims to be your soul, but it really your ego in disguise? I bet people are wondering, “What’s the difference?” Well, the answer is out there. I know the answer. But it takes a life-time commitment to understanding this answer and it’s not going to happen on the couch and it won’t come out of the TV (not even the Oprah show) and it won’t get into the core of your being from reading Ekhart Tolle’s A New Earth. The answer only comes from within. How do you reach within for the answers? Get out of your head, get out of your comfort zone and live your life. There is more going on out there than you realize, and God has asked us to participate.
